SUSIE SWIFT COMBS (JANUARY 8, 1891-JULY 5, 1929)

SUSIE SWIFT COMBS WAS BORN FEBRUARY 8, 1891, IN WORTH COUNTY, MISSOURI AND DIED JULY 5, 1929, IN ST. JOSEPH, MO. SHE SPENT HER EARLIEST YEARS ON THE FARM AND THEN MOVED WITH HER FAMILY TO GRANT CITY, MO., WHERE SHE ATTENDED SCHOOL AND GRADUATED FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL. SHE THEN ATTENDED MARYVILLE STATE NORMAL AND TAUGHT FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

ON SEPTEMBER 2, 1920, SHE WAS MARRIED TO HARLEY COMBS, OF REDDING, AND SINCE HER MARRIAGE LIVED IN ALLENDALE, MO., REDDING, IOWA, AND FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS IN BENTON, IOWA.

SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND AND FOUR CHILDREN, KATHERINE, AGE EIGHT, MARJORIE AGE SIX AND HARLEY VANCE AGE FOUR; HER FATHER HENRY SWIFT, OF GRANT CITY, MO.; THREE SISTERS, MRS. J.C. SCHWAB, OF DENVER, WY.; MRS. GEO. SCHRIKER, LINCOLN, NE.; MRS. W. M. BURTON, LEES SUMMIT, MO.; FOUR BROTHERS, ARTHUR R. SWIFT, OF SANTA ANA, CA.; DR. ROY F. SWIFT, OF ROCKFORD, IL.; DR. L.J. SWIFT, OF MONTICELLO AND DR. I.H. SWIFT, OF GRANT CITY, MO.

SHE ALWAYS MADE MANY FRIENDS WHEREVER SHE WENT. SHE UNITED WITH THE METHODIST CHURCH EARLY IN LIFE AND HAS BEEN A FAITHFUL WORKER IN ALL DEPARTMENTS OF THE CHURCH. SHE HAS CONSTANTLY FOLLOWED THE HIGHEST IDEALS OF LIVING AND HAS BEEN A SOURCE OF CHEER AND INSPIRATION TO HER FAMILY AND ALL WHO KNEW HER. HER LOSS IS DEEPLY MOURNED, BUT HER MEMORY WILL ALWAYS BE A PLEASANT ONE.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD FROM THE HOME MONDAY AFTERNOON AT TWO-THIRTY, CONDUCTED BY T. S. RHOADES ASSISTED BY REV. PATRICK. BURIAL WAS MADE AT GRANT CITY, MO.
