FRANCIS RAMON JENNINGS

FRANCIS RAMON JENNINGS, SON OF MRS. MARY JENNINGS CAMPBELL AND THE LATE EMMETT FANEL JENNINGS, WAS BORN AT REDDING, IOWA, ON SEPTEMBER 28, 1897 AND PASSED AWAY AT THE GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL AT BOISE CITY, IDAHO, AT 1 A.M. NOVEMBER 11 (ARMISTICE DAY), 1929, AGED 32 YEARS, ONE MONTH AND 13 DAYS.

HE GREW TO MANHOOD AT REDDING, IOWA, ATTENDING THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS AT THAT PLACE. ON MAY 8, 1917, HE ENLISTED IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY, TRAINING AT NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND, AND ON THE U.S.S. DENVER. LATER HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE ARMED GUARD SERVICE AND MADE EIGHTEEN TRIPS ACROSS THE ATLANTIC. ON ONE OCCASSION THE SHIP WAS BURNED AT GENOA, ITALY, AND THE CREW WAS COMPELLED TO TAKE TO THE WATER.
