CLARISSA REBECCA BUTLER ADAIR

CLARISSA REBECCA, ELDEST DAUGHTER OF ALPHA T. AND MARY J. BUTLER, WAS BORN NEAR REDDING, IOWA, JUNE 17, 1887 AND DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT THE ST. CATHERINE’S HOSPITAL IN OMAHA, NE., ABOUT 3:30 SUNDAY AFTERNOON, JANUYARY 19, 1930, AGE 42 YEARS, SEVEN MONTHS AND TWO DAYS.

SHE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO ROY ADAIR AT MOUNT AYR SEPTEMBER 5, 1906. TO THIS UNION WERE BORN TWO DAUGHTERS, TWILA E. AND VELMA M. SHE LEAVES TO MOURN HER LOSS THESE TWO DAUGHTERS; HER MOTHER, MRS. MARY BUTLER OF OMAHA; A BROTHER, GLEN B. BUTLER, OF OMAHA; A SISTER, MRS. FERNE B. SALTZMAN, JR; A NIECE, CLARAMERLE BUTLER AND A HOST OF OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. THESE RELATIVES WERE AT THE BEDSIDE WHEN THE END CAME. HER FATHER PRECEDED HER IN DEATH NOVEMBER 21, 1927.

WHEN MRS. ADAIR WAS A YOUNG GIRL OF TEN SHE GAVE HER HEART TO THE LORD AND UNITED WITH THE METHODIST CHURCH. LATER ON IN LIFE SHE TRANSFERRED HER MEMBERSHIP TO THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH.

SHE WAS A KIND, LOVING MOTHER AND ONE OF HER GREATEST AMBITIONS WAS FOR THE WELFARE OF HER TWO DAUGHTERS. MRS. ADAIR HAD BEEN ILL FOR SOME TIME AND EARLY SUNDAY MORNING SHE ANSWERED THE HEAVENLY ROLL CALL. IN THIS INSTANCE WE SHOULD NOT THINK OF A PRESENT LIFE AND A FUTURE LIFE; WE SHOULD THINK OF ONE UNENDING LIFE AND DEATH AS ONLY AN INCIDENT IN THE ENDLESS CAREER.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD FROM THE HOFFMAN MORTUARY IN OMAHA MONDAY AFTERNOON AT FOUR O’CLOCK, CONDUCTED BY THE REV. L. A. WALKER. INTERMENT WAS MADE IN REDDING TUESDAY AFTERNOON, WHEN SHORT SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED AT THE GRAVE BY REV. AMACK.
