James S. Carson
James S. Carson, son of John and Sarah Carson, was born at Cherry Tree, PA, on September 4, 1862 and passed away at his home in Mount Ayr on March 4, 1943, at the age of 80 years and six months.
He came to Iowa as a young man and was engaged in the work of farming in Dallas County. There on December 25, 1888, he was united in marriage to Linda Wright who survives him. Three children were born to this union, Johnny, who died when a baby, Mrs. Beatrice Wyler of Boone and Dwight Carson of Douglas, AZ.
In 1912 the Carsons moved to Ringgold County and then moved to Mount Ayr in 1918.
Mr. Carson was a man who was filled with honesty and integrity and it was his desire to be friendly with all men. His love of his home and family was one of his outstanding characteristics.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Rhoades Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Thomas Kelley, pastor of the Methodist Church. Interment was made in Oakland Cemetery at DeSoto, Iowa.
