Elnora Knight Evans

Elnora Evans, daughter of Lewis C. and Nancy J. Knight, was born in Iowa, January 6, 1875 and passed away at the Batterson Rest Home near her home, March 17, 1943, at the age of 68 years, two months and 11 days. She had made her home in Iowa all her life until she went to California about thirty years ago, living in Los Angeles until the last few years when she moved to her new home in Santa Cruz.

She had been confined to her bed for two years. She was a gentle and patient sufferer and was ready and willing to go when her Saviour called her home. She gave her heart to God in early life and retained her Christian faith during her lifetime and was always ready and willing to help those in need, always sacrificing for those she loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband, Joe C. Evans of Santa Cruz; one daughter, Mrs. Loveta King and one grandson, Robert King, of Los Angeles, CA.; four brothers, Raymond D., of Lamoni, Guy E. of Redding, Vern W. of Mount Ayr, and Reuben H. of Meridian, ID.; two sisters, Kathryn Cencirulo, of Manette, WA., and Mrs. Grace Young of Mount Ayr, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted March 20 from White’s Chapel in Santa Cruz, with the Rev. Albert Seigle officiating, taking his scripture from the 23rd Psalm. The remains were laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery in Santa Cruz.
