John William Harris, son of James H. and Mary Kathryn Harris, was born September 22, 1877 and departed this life April 21, 1943 at Iowa City, Iowa at the age of 66 years, six months and 29 days.
January 21, 1905, he was united in marriage to Bertha Schuster of Grant City, MO. To this union three sons were born: Loyd W., Cleo E. and Doyl.
He united in membership with the Methodist Church in Redding in 1917 and he was faithful in attendance until sickness prevented. This last illness he bore with patience and was ready when the Master called. He was a good neighbor and a true friend and was liked by everyone who knew him.
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his wife and two sons, Loyd and Doyl and leaves to mourn his passing his son, Cleo of Pasadena, CA., two grandchildren, three brothers and one sister, Sam of Parnell, MO., Jesse of Sheridan, MO., Carl and Mrs. Jedie Norris of Redding and a number of nieces and nephews , other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, April 25, at the Redding Methodist Church by the Rev. E. B. Stewart, pastor. His body was laid to rest by his loved ones in the Redding Cemetery.
