Martha Jane Bickett

Martha Jane Bickett was born near Little York, IL., August 11, 1851 where she grew to young womanhood.

On February 20, 1873, she was united in marriage to Arthur H. Bickett in Aledo, IL., where they established their first home. With her husband, she came to Mount Ayr in 1877 which has since been her home.

Aunt Jane, as she was familiarly known to her friends, departed this life in the home of her daughter, Lila, in Yuma, CO., on April 30, last. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons who died in infancy.

Surviving her today are her daughter, Mrs. Lila Triplett of Yuma, CO., one son, John Bickett of Aledo, IL., and one granddaughter, Barbara Jane Bickett, now a student in Cornell College, and one adopted daughter Mrs. C.G. Stranaham of Johnstown, CO. She is also survived by two nephews, Will Horne, of Des Moines and Earl Horne of Mount Ayr.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from Rhoades Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. S. C. Picken, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church. Burial was made in Rose Hill Cemetery.
