ELLA E. SOLES HAYES

ELLA E. SOLES, DAUGHTER OF F.B. AND ALICE SOLES, WAS BORN AT MOUNT AYR, IOWA, ON NOVEMBER 3, 1867 AND DIED AT ST. MARY’S HOSPITAL IN MINNEAPOLIS, MN., ON JANUARY 12, 1944 AT THE AGE OF 76 YEARS.

SHE WAS THE ELDEST OF A FAMILY OF FIVE CHILDREN, OF WHOM IVA M. SHROYER OF PAWNEE CITY, NE., LOTA DRAPER OF LONG BEACH, CA., JAMES SOLES OF HOLLYWOOD, CA., AND THALIA ENDSLEY OF DETROIT, MI., SURVIVE.

ON OCTOBER 14, 1885, SHE WAS MARRIED TO ELMER E. HAYES WHO PRECEDED HER IN DEATH ON JUNE 23, 1927.

TWO CHILDREN WERE BORN TO THIS UNION, MERRITT W. HAYES OF MINNEAPOLIS, MN. AND GRANT L.HAYES OF MOUNT AYR, IOWA. TWO GRANDCHILDREN AND ON GREAT-GRANDCHILD ALSO SURVIVE.

MRS. HAYES JOINED THE UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT MOUNT AYR AT A VERY EARLY AGE AND WAS A REGULAR ATTENDANT AS LONG AS HER HEALTH PERMITTED. SHE WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE ROYAL NEIGHBOR AND REBEKAH LODGES AND TOOK GREAT INTEREST IN THEM AND IN HER CLUBS.

IN FAILING HEALTH FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS, HER HOME WAS THE MEETING PLACE FOR HER MANY FRIENDS WHO STOPPED IN FOR A VISIT AND TO BRIGHTEN HER DAY.

SHE LIVED FOR HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS TAKIN AN INTENSE INTEREST IN THEIR WELFARE AND WELL BEING.

OUR MOTHER AND FRIEND. HERS WAS A FULL LIFE.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD FRIDAY AFTERNOON FORM THE RHOADES FUNERAL HOME, CONDUCTED BY DR. S.C. PICKEN. INTERMENT WAS MADE IN ROSE HILL CEMETERY.
