LILA MAE BARKER
Lila Mae (Tyrrel) Barker was born September 13, 1935 to Nova Vernon and Vesta (Walters) Tyrrel. Lila graduated from Mount Ayr High School.
On December 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Edward Barker. To this union two sons were born: Rusty Lavernon and Lonny Lee.
Lila was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, playing pitch, the color red especially in clothing, shopping, cooking for family and fishing.
Lila and Lawrence lived 41 years in Clearfield before moving to Lenox. Lawrence passed away in 2009. Lila moved back to Clearfield to the Clearview Home until moving to the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr where she passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Tori Barker. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Rusty Barker of Des Moines and Lonny (Ronda) Barker of Casey; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Barker; two step-grandchildren, Lindsey Heathcote and Kailey Fucaloro; three step-great grandchildren, Drake Rule, Saige Rule and Wesley Heathcote.
Services were at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Lenox, IA.
Officiating was Pastor Lauri Greenlee.
Hymns were “In The Garden”, “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross”.
Burial was at North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox, IA.
Memorials are to the Lenox Fire and Rescue.
