Brad Eldon Still
Brad Eldon Still, 55 of Mount Ayr, IA, passed away at Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston, IA on May 9, 2020. Brad fought a short but valiant battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer. Brad was born January 18, 1965 in Mount Ayr IA, the son of Eldon and Frances “Anne” (Garrity) Still.
He graduated from Grand Valley Community School in 1983. Brad married his high school sweetheart Cherrye Woodard on June 11, 1983 and to this union was born three boys whom he was incredibly proud of: Brandon James (11/26/87), Brock Eldon (3/18/90), Brian Carroll (10/2/91). Brad married Christina Shields on October 28, 2012 and welcomed three stepchildren to his family: Trevor Michael, Charlcey Ann and Macey Kay.
Brad loved his family, farming, gardening, being a dad and grandpa. He will be remembered by his boisterous voice and laughter and sharing his belief of the word of God. At his passing, Brad was an active member at the Family Worship Center in Kellerton, IA and was baptized at Little River.
Brad is survived by his wife, Christy, sons, Brandon (Danielle) Still, Brock (Makenzie) Still, Brian (Tessa) Still; stepchildren, Trevor Gooding (Mady Henson) and Macey Bowen; six granddaughters Kambreigh Shae, Aspen Celae, Collins Caroline, Isabella Sue, Whitley Grace and baby girl 2020. Brad is also survived by his sister, Beth Combs, of Marion, IA; stepmother, Janice Still; his father-in-law, Bart Shields; sister-in-law, Lanette (Vince) Schaller; brother-in-law, Joshua (Julie) Shields; stepbrother, Randy (Athena) Simpson, of Franklin, TN; step sister-in-law, Christi Simpson of Corning, IA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Brad was preceded in death by his father (2017); mother (2009); stepfather, LeRoy Wilmes (2019); mother-in-law, Barb Shields (2012); stepdaughter, Charlcey Bowen (2011); stepbrother, Tim Simpson (2011); and brother-in-law, Mike Combs (2018).
Memorials are in his name to be decided later. Armstrong Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the Ringgold County Fairgrounds in Mount Ayr, IA.
Officiating was Clyde Sweeten and Pastor Bart Shields.
Songs were “The Lord’s My Shepherd” – Robin Herd, “I Will Rise” – Rachel Larson Ford, “Even Though I’m Leaving” – Luke Combs, “That’s My Job” – Conway Twitty and “Go Rest High On That Mountain” – Vince Gill.
Casketbearers were Ronche Still, Doug Still, Jake Still, Greg Still, Josh Shields, Rod Holmes, Barry Jackson and Vince Schaller.
Honorary pallbearers were Kambreigh Still, Aspen Still, Isabella Still, Collins Still, Whitley Still and Baby Girl Still.
