ROBERT ALLEN ROLFE

Robert Allen Rolfe, was born to Howard Ernest and Vivian Opal (Duel) Rolfe on September 1, 1943, in Crump, MI. He died at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, IA on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.
Rob, or Bob as he was known in his youth, grew up and attended a one-room country school at Midland, MI before starting at Midland High School and graduating in 1951. He went to undergraduate school at Graceland College in Lamoni, IA. He earned his Law Degree in 1973 from Drake University in Des Moines, IA. Upon graduation, he moved to Creston, IA where he was the prosecuting attorney for eight years. The family moved to Lamoni, IA where he joined the Sherman Phipps law practice in 1978. Rob continued his legal work including serving as the Decatur County Magistrate for many years. He was currently doing abstract work.
While at Graceland College, Rob met Lynda Suzanne Propst. They were married on August 22, 1966, and were blessed with four children, Derek, Adrian, Sara, and Alana.
In his free time, Rob enjoyed golfing, bowling, and deer hunting. His faith was strong, and he was a guiding force in the organizing the Mount Ayr Restoration Branch church. Rob’s Church family was also very important to him as he dedicated most of his life to serving, preaching, and sharing his beliefs with the people he met along his journey. He was highly active in his community, serving on the Lamoni City Council, LHS School Board and Lion’s Club.
Rob also loved music and found opportunities to bless others by performing. He loved going to Blue Grass festivals and listening to his favorite songs. An accomplished musician himself, he could play guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano and shared those talents with his children, family, and friends. He was in several musicals. One of his favorites was later in life he played the character Tevye in the Fiddler on the Roof at Graceland College. He also sang and played his guitar in Ringgold Singers, a group based out of their church in Mount Ayr.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Lynda in 2018; and his sister, Frances Parker. Survivors include his children, Derek and Cathy Rolfe of Plattsburg, MO, Adrian Rolfe of Lamoni, Sara and David Hirsch of Thornton, CO and Alana Rolfe and fiancé, Tim Massa of New Orleans, LA; four grandchildren, Caleb and wife, Danielle, Rolfe, Abbigael and husband, Morgan, Wallace, Connor Rolfe and Elizabeth Rolfe and Mary Ellen Paulus; great grandson, Micah Wallace; brothers, Paul and Mary Rolfe, Brian Rolfe and Ted and Nora Rolfe, all of the Midland, MI area; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Lamoni Community of Christ Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022.
