GEORGIA MAE SHAHA

Georgia Mae (Terwilliger) Shaha, daughter of Gay Miller (Smokey) and Edna Pearl (Axtell) Terwilliger, was born on May 12, 1925, near Lesanville in Ringgold County, IA and passed away from this life on March 20, 2023, at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr at the age of 97 years.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Murray Shaha on April 10, 1948, in Lamoni, IA. To this union, one son was born, James Howard Shaha.
Georgia, affectionately known as Georgie, was a very hard worker. She farmed with her husband and worked outside the house as a housekeeper around several places in Mount Ayr. She worked for many years at the Clinton Motel.
After retiring from the farm, Murray and she moved to their home in Mount Ayr. She enjoyed her flowers, playing cards and going out to play Bingo, with friends and family. She spent many hours piecing quilts, embroidering and crocheting all sorts of things which are treasured by many family members, friends and neighbors. She also was a great cook and baker, which she enjoyed with others.
After her health declined, she moved to Clearview Home. She was somewhat outspoken but there was never any doubt that she loved her family, especially her one great granddaughter, Lily.
Those left to cherish her memory are son James (Jim) and wife, Bonnie, Shaha; two grandsons, Steven and David Shaha; one granddaughter, Heather and husband, Braden Greer; and one great granddaughter, Lily; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Murray Shaha; mother and father, Gay and Pearl Terwilliger; four sisters, Lavilla Klos, Zoe Canny, Lois Rainey and Oy Webb; two brothers, Jack and Lee Terwilliger.
Visitation will be held at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Thursday, March 23 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial follows in Rose Hill Cemetery.
