Craig Elliott

Craig Elliott was born to Jack Elliott and Mildred Dixon Elliott in Des Moines, Iowa on September 30, 1947. He and his family moved to Benton where he attended school till transferring to Mount Ayr.
Craig enjoyed participating in sports in high school. His senior year he started dating Ellen Saville.
After graduation Craig attended Iowa State University participating in ROTC. He stayed devoted to Ellen, and they married June 10, 1967. They continued studying at Iowa State University graduating in 1970.
Craig then served in the Military for a short time. Upon discharge Craig moved to Bedford, Iowa where he was the county extension director. After a couple of years Craig had the opportunity to start farming with his father, Jack.
Craig loved farming and spent many long hours in the fields. He retired in 2019. Craig enjoyed politics and was active on the school board for many years. He also volunteered with the Republican Party. Craig enjoyed attending both football and basketball games at Iowa State for many years.
Craig is survived by his wife Ellen, daughter Angela Lathrop (husband Joe) and son Chris Elliott (wife Holly); grandchildren Jessica Lathrop, Abby Lathrop, Jack Elliott and Grayson Elliott; brother Dick Elliott (wife Donna), brother Kirk Elliott, and sister Karen Bender (husband Rick); brother-in-law James Saville (wife Marilyn); many nieces and nephews.
Open viewing will be held at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present, on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.; services begin at 2:00 p.m. Private family burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials are in his name to be decided.

    Mom, Alma Barna Elliott wife of Loren Spencer Elliott, Craig’s uncle, his grandfather Mark, and his father Jack Mark, of the Mark family of Kellerton, oldest in Elliott plot is a Mark His mother Aunt Mildred Dixon, look after Craig, and myself, when my mother Alma Barna was recovering from the auto-accident
