The Mount Ayr boy’s golf team won their third, fourth, and fifth meets of the season last week as the 2025 season approaches May.
The Raiders have only one meet this week at Corning and Happy Hollow Golf Course in a meet with Southwest Valley. The following week, the Raiders will compete at the 2025 Pride of Iowa Conference championship meet hosted this year by Central Decatur.
The Raiders began last week with a trip to the site of this year’s POI meet, playing in a triangular meet at the Leon Golf & Country Club.
Mount Ayr was joined by the host Cardinals and Interstate-35. The Raiders ran away with the team title by 20 strokes over the runner-up Roadrunners. Mount Ayr won the meet with a team score of 158 to the 178 for I-35.
Mount Ayr had the medalist at the meet with a score of 38 by Dylan Graham. Interstate-35’s Peter Nagel was the runner-up medalist. Other Mount Ayr scores were Tanner Streit 39, Jaxson Greene 40, Avery Wolfe 41, Jaxsen Walter 42, and Louden Main 44.
The second meet in as many days for Mount Ayr saw them compete at a five-team meet at East Union on Tuesday April 22. The Raiders won the meet with a team score of 155, holding off runner-up SE Warren which was second with a team score of 163. Three other Pride of Iowa Conference teams were also at the meet with East Union, Wayne, and Martensdale-St.. Mary’s there also.
East Union’s Zayne Eslinger was the medalist at the meet with a score of 36. Mount Ayr’s Jaxson Greene tied for the runner-up medalist honors with a score of 37. Dylan Graham and Avery Wolfe tied for the fifth-best score with a 39. Other Mount Ayr scores were Tanner Streit 40, Trevin Victory 41, and Louden Main 42.
Mount Ayr hosted a three-team triangular on Thursday, April 24, beating non-conference foes Chariton and Clarke. The Raiders won the meet with a team score of 154, where the runner-up Chariton Chargers, were second with 170 points. Four Raider scores were the top-4 scores at the meet. There was a tie for the medalist honors by Mount Ayr’s Jaxson Greene and Jaxsen Walter with scores of 37. There was also a tie for the runner-up medalist with a couple of Raiders getting the honors. Louden Main and Tanner Streit each tied for the runner-up spot with scores of 40.
