SHENANDOAH, Iowa — The Mount Ayr girl’s golf team took part in their biggest meet of the season as they competed in the Fillia Golf Invitational last Friday in Shenandoah.
The meet was one of 18-holes and the Raiderettes placed 8th with a score of 433. Council Bluffs Lewis Central won the meet with a score of 371 followed by runner-up Earlham with 373 and Clarinda third with a score of 376.
Mount Ayr’s Jaylee Shaffer placed fourth overall with a score of 84. Council Bluffs Lewis Central’s Chloe Perfect was the medalist with a score of 76 followed by Taylor Rasmussen was the runner-up with a score of 78 and Clarinda’s Addy Weinreich placed third with a score of 83. Shaffer was two strokes out of third place.
Other Mount Ayr scores were Abby Larson 108, Izzy Gilbertson 118, Claire Routh 123, Alyssa Doolittle 131 and Dallas Newton 153.
Mount Ayr has a pair of meets this week starting on Tuesday at East Union (results were not available as of press time. Also at that meet are Pride of Iowa Conference schools Wayne, Martensdale-St. Marys and SE Warren. The Raiderettes will also play on Thursday at a meet in Oskaloosa at Edmundson Golf Course.
