MOUNT AYR, Iowa — The regular season is quickly getting to the postseason part of the schedule for high school golf and the Mount Ayr boys and girls golf teams hosted one last regular season meet last Thursday.
The Mount Ayr boys team placed second and the girls third at their respective meets.
On the boy’s side, Mount Ayr got a pair of runner-up medalist finishes from Jaxson Greene and Tytan Gourley to lead to a runner-up team finish. Greene and Gourley tied for the honors with each scoring a 39 at the meet. All of the Raiders golf scores were under 45 for the meet. Nodaway Valley won the meet with a team score of 155, seven strokes ahead of Mount Ayr. The Wolverines were led by medalist Ty Rardin.  SE Warren was third with a team score of 183.
On the girl’s side, Mount Ayr was led by a score of 37 by meet medalist Jaylee Shaffer. Sarah Pickens from Shenandoah was the runner-up medalist with a score of 41. Three other Mount Ayr players scored in the 50’s. Izzy Gilbertson had a score of 50, Abby Larson a score of 51 and Claire Routh a score of 52.
Martensdale-St. Marys won the girls meet with a score of 185 points. Kathryn Ballard led the Blue Devil scores with a 44.  Shenandoah was the runner-up team with a score of 188.  Nodaway Valley and SE Warren were also at the meet.
