AFTON, Iowa — The Raiderettes Jaylee Shaffer was the individual Pride of Iowa Conference champion during the POI meet last Wednesday in Afton.
The East Union girl’s golf team captured the 2026 Pride of Iowa Conference title after holding off Martensdale-St. Mary’s and Mount Ayr. The Eagles had the advantage of playing at home for the meet. The Eagles scored 381 points while Martensdale-St. Mary’s and Mount Ayr scored 383 each.
Kathryn Ballard from Martensdale-St. Mary’s was the runner-up medalist to Shaffer with a score of 90. Both earned all-conference honors with their scores. Izzy Gilbertson also captured all-conference honors, placing sixth overall with a score of 91. Gwen Nixon placed fourth overall with a score of 91. East Union had a pair of other top-10 finishes with Kathryn Lack placing fifth and Marlys Mitchell placed 10th.
Other Mount Ayr scores were 23rd Abby Larson 109, 25th Claire Routh 112, 38th Alyssa Doolittle 130, and 44th Dallas Newton 160.
The Raiderettes will be at Central Decatur on Friday for a Class 1A Regional meet.
