LEON, Iowa — The Mount Ayr girls golf team traveled to Central Decatur last Friday when the Cardinals hosted a Class 1A Regional girl’s golf meet on May 15 with seven teams were in action. There, the Raiderettes placed second at the meet with a combined score of 387. Martensdale-St. Marys won the meet with a score of 347.
Mount Ayr’s Jaylee Shaffer won the regional meet with a low score of 68. Other Mount Ayr scores were Abby Larson 103, Izzy Gilbertson 108, Claire Routh 108, Alyssa Doolittle 117 and Dallas Newton 122.
Diagonal was at the meet as well and placed fifth out of the seven teams with a team score of 483. Diagonal was one of two Bluegrass Conference teams there. The other five were from the Pride of Iowa Conference meet. Maroonette scores were 9th Clarie Grace 104, 24th Ashlynn Allee 123, 25th Avery Grace 125 and 28th Aspen Egly 131.
Mount Ayr will play on May 20 in the Regional Final meet at Prairie Knolls Golf Course in New Sharon.
