ROBERT LOUIS WILLIAMS
The world lost a kind, curious and determined soul on June 11, 2022, when Robert Louis Williams passed away peacefully at the age of 92 in Fullerton, CA. Robert was born on December 18,1929 in Boise, ID to Robert E. and Marietta J. Williams but grew up in Kellerton, IA. He was raised largely by his mother and grandmother. He played multiple sports in high school, with his favorite being basketball which remained a passion throughout his life. He continued to travel to Kellerton until his mother’s passing.
After graduation, he joined the Navy and served for four years, including seeing action in the Korean War. During his time in the Navy, he met his wife of almost 70 years, Jeanne Butimore. They were married on December 27, 1952.
Robert attended UCLA where he graduated in 1956 with a degree in Finance. Bob worked in aerospace for most of his career and worked at North American/Rockwell until his retirement in 1988. Robert was involved in many social and charitable endeavors during his life including Boy Scouts, FISH medical transportation service and St. Juliana’s Catholic Church.
Avid travelers, Bob and Jeanne belonged to the Coastal Cruisers RV Club for many years and went on several cruises and European travels.
Robert is survived by his wife, Jeanne, daughter, Ellen (Mark Volmert), son, John (Connie Williams), niece, Ann, grandchildren, Alex, Anne, Katherine and Evan, great grandchildren, Daniel, James and Samantha, grandnephew, Ben, and great grandniece, Teagan, and great grandnephew, Logan. Services are planned for August 12, 2022. Donations to the American Cancer Society are requested in lieu of flowers.
